Cwmbiga

Cwmbiga Farm B&B lies in its own valley within the Cambrian Mountains and Hafren Forest and is very near the Clywedog Reservoir: renowned for its fishing. In the shadow of the 750 metre high peak, Pumlumon, Cwmbiga is located in a beautiful, very rural, part of mid Wales: very near Staylittle and only 8 miles from the friendly market town of Llanidloes.

Cwmbiga attracts a lot of walkers, as Glyndwr’s Way passes very close by and the Severn Way and Wye Valley Walk both start within a couple of miles of the farm. Lôn Las Cymru (National Cycle Route 8) passes our door, so Cwmbiga is also a popular overnight stop for cyclists.

A wildlife haven, Cwmbiga makes a great base for horse riders, anglers, walkers and cyclists who want to explore the countryside around Staylittle, Llanidloes, and Machynlleth and further afield. We are also very conveniently located for the Mid Wales Shooting Centre, Trefeglwys.

Bed and Breakfast at Cwmbiga

We are accredited members of both the ‘Walkers Welcome’ and ‘Cyclists Welcome’ scheme, so, on arrival, you will find delicious (home-made) cake and tea and coffee awaits you.

We have three cosy and comfortable rooms available in the farmhouse, named after the three nymphs that reputedly met nearby, ‘Varga’, ‘Ystwyth’ and ‘Sabrina’. Varga and Ystwyth are double rooms and Sabrina is twin or king-size bedded, as you prefer. All are en suite and all have comfortable beds with locally made patchwork quilts and 100% cotton sheets, an en suite shower or bath room and tea and coffee making facilities.

Our Grade II listed traditional Welsh farmhouse has been fully modernised, though we have retained a lot of the original features, so each room features exposed beams and original stonework as well as photographs of beauty spots and wildlife local to Cwmbiga.

We serve both breakfast and evening meals in our lovely oak framed conservatory from which you can oversee the valley of the river Biga and watch the birds feed at the numerous feeders. Guests are also welcome to relax in the comfortable sofas in the conservatory.

CwmbigaIf there are more than 6 persons in your party, we can accommodate further B&B guests in twin and double rooms in our holiday cottages. If we use one or more of these rooms as an annexe, everyone in the party can still eat, socialise and relax in the spacious conservatory attached to the farmhouse.

All meals are freshly cooked on the premises using local ingredients where possible. We enjoy catering for veggies, vegans and those with dietary requirements and we can provide a substantial packed lunch, if required.

If you arrive on foot, on cycle or on horseback, we will happily pick up your baggage from your previous accommodation and transfer it to the next: or arrange a local firm to do this. We have a drying room for your clothes and storage of bikes and kit. We will also wash and dry a load of washing overnight, if required.
