The cafe has friendly, welcoming staff and is highly regarded for its wholesome homemade food, varied menu, cooked fresh everyday using fresh ingredients from 17 mainly local suppliers. The café features in the Hidden Places of Wales.
The café has an extensive range of organic and fair-trade drinks including coffee, teas and sparkling cans. All our drinks including hot chocolates are made fresh to order, it also has soya milk shakes and fruit juices available. The licensed cafe serves wines, lager, organic ales and ciders.
The menu of vegetarian wholefood changes daily and caters for breakfast, special dietary needs vegan, wheat/gluten/dairy free every day. There is Soup of the Day and Specials such as lasagna, varied quiches, Thai or Indian curry, pizza, flans or shepherdess pie and has an extensive freshly made salad bar. All food & drink is to eat in or takeaway. The café uses bio degradable takeaway boxes/forks.
There are a wonderful range of homemade cakes using local free range eggs and many are organic fair-trade such as chocolate, coffee and walnut, banana, date & walnut. There are vegan apricot and date flap jacks & a variety of fruit cakes such as pear & almond, lemon & poppy seed, passion cake. Cakes that are wheat free, dairy free & with no added sugar are available please ask. All cakes can be made to order to takeaway – please give a weeks notice.
The cafe seats 36 inside, with access to seating in the lovely rear courtyard and pavement tables to the front. Nursing mothers & children are welcome with brightly coloured cups/knifes/forks/spoons; baby nappy changer & high chairs. There is good disabled access and a disabled toilet.
The cafe is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday all year round (and Sunday 9.30 – 4pm from Easter to end of October). The café displays art by local artists, has evening dining and music events which are advertised separately. The cafe also caters for buffets for outside events.
