Llanidloes Town Football Club dates back to 1875 and was once a major force in not only Mid Wales football but also throughout Non League Football in Wales, winning the Welsh Amateur Cup twice in 1922 and 1964. The club was also original members of the Konica League of Wales when it was formed in the 1992/3 season.
However that is the end of the good news! Their last major trophy was in the days of the league and cup double of the Mid Wales Central League and Cup in 1980/81. Possibly more galling is the fact that the team that the club battled with at the end of the 92/93 season was Newtown, who just managed to scramble to safety outside the relegation spots and went on to finish second in the league and play in the UEFA Cup.
However, today, the club has all the facilities to be playing at a much higher level and the club is stabilising after its recent free fall. The town boasts both a men's and ladies team and a great future could be round the corner.
