2. Located at the junction of China Street with Mount Lane, the Mount Inn takes its name from the "mount" of Llanidloes' long-vanished Norman castle, which stood on this site. A fine timber-framed inn, with a "pitched" cobble pavement to its front and the base of its walls protected by black "weatherboarding", another typical local feature. Inside are beamed interiors, with an especially good and now rare "pitched and patterned" cobble floor in the inglenooked "Snug."
