Rock Villa B&B lies on the tranquil slopes of the Clywedog valley in rural mid-Wales, with breathtaking views of the Cambrian Mountains and its highest point, Mount Plynlimmon. Becky and Jason look forward to welcoming you warmly to our family home, which is also a working smallholding. Your children will love our animals, and you will enjoy the fresh produce from our vegetable gardens. Lying less than a mile from Glyndwr's Way, and just yards from the Number 8 National Cycle trail, we are also well situated for walks to the sources of the Severn and Wye rivers, as well as for the Hafren Forest and its woodland trails. Lake Clywedog, with its fine fishing, is a short walk away, and there are plenty of good local walks where you can see the spectacular local wildlife, like the red kite, buzzard, sparrow-hawk and merlin. Our friendly B&B makes an excellent base for walkers, cyclists, anglers, or simply those who love the great outdoors.
Accommodation
The Clywedog Room (twin/triple/family room; en-suite) has far-reaching views of the Cambrian Mountains, the Clywedog valley, and sees some spectacular sunsets. The Chapel Room (double), with its low ceilings, dark beams and thick stone walls is in the oldest and most romantic part of the house. This dates back to 1768, when Capel y Craig (or Rock Chapel as it was then) was built as a Methodist place of worship for the local hill-farmers. The Hill Room (double) is a sunny room, with views of our nearest neighbours: our flock of sheep! Prices start from £28 pppn for two sharing (including a hearty breakfast). Please contact us for more details; discounts are available for walkers, for longer stays and out of season.
Facilities
In the evening guests have the use of the snug, a cosy breakfast room, where you can relax beside the wood-burning stove. There is no television at Rock Villa, but with the splendid views and lively birdsong, we don't think you'll miss it. We also have games, puzzles aplenty and information on local attractions to keep you occupied. Your hosts are keen walkers and can provide you with maps and information, and ideas on local things to do. Secure bike storage is also available. With the stove, the thick stone walls and Cambrian views, Rock Villa also makes a cosy, romantic winter getaway! And for the summer evenings, a sunny terrace, and a barbecue area, is at your disposal.
Food
For breakfast, choose a full Welsh, or cereals, toast, porridge etc. We also offer a hearty two- or three-course farmhouse dinner (24 hours notice needed), and can provide you with a packed lunch. We grow most of own vegetables, and use our own ingredients or the best locally available produce for the meals. Alternatively, if your legs are weary, we can drive you to the local pub. The village store (open till 7 pm Mon-Sat; Sunday mornings) also sells a good range of basics and is just a few minutes’ walk away.
Dinner £13 /£15 two/three courses.
Packed Lunch £5.
