A few visitors to the area have asked us to provide a guide on how to pronounce some of the place names in and around Llanidloes. Forgive us if you can pronounce them better than we can to begin with, but for those don't speak any Welsh they can be a bit daunting. It's for you that we hope the following will help
Llanidloes
'Lan–id–loyce' or 'Llan–id–loyce' (roll your 'l's' when you see two together). If all else fails, you can join the majority of locals and just say 'Llani' or 'Lanny' for short.
Arwystli
'R'–whist–lee' or 'R'–oost –lee'
Llandinam
'Llan–din–am'
Llanbrynmair
'Llan–brin–mair' (rhymes with fire)
Llyn Clywedog
'Llin' or 'Lin Cluw–ed-og'
Trefeglwys

Tylwych
'Tull–ook' or 'Tull-och'
Machynlleth
