About us: Rock Villa is a character whitewashed stone house tucked away on the slopes of the Clywedog valley in the peaceful and picturesque hamlet of Staylittle, less than a mile from Glyndwr's Way National Trail. The original section of the house dates back to the 1760's where it was used as a chapel and it retains some lovely original features.
Two solid fuel stoves keep the house snugly warm and we have also installed a gas boiler to ensure our guests have guaranteed hot water on demand.
Our rooms and tariffs: We offer accommodation in three comfortable, fully redecorated rooms arranged as follows:
The Clywedog Room is a triple with ensuite bathroom and has far reaching views of the Cambrian Mountains and the Clywedog valley. When not needed as a triple the room will have a daybed, perfect for reading or a little nap.
Tariff: £30 p/person based on two or more sharing.
The Chapel room is a double with shared bath/shower room. Situated in the oldest part of the house, it's very atmospheric with low beams, thick stone walls and original dark wood.
Tariff: £27.50 p/person based on two sharing.
The Aviary Room is a single with shared bath/shower room using a 4 foot double bed for comfort. It's a charming room with views of the hill and a window seat, ideal for admiring the neighbouring flock of Welsh black faced sheep (and at this time of year their lambs too!)
Tariff: £35 based on single occupancy.
We do have an additional double room (shared bathroom) available should there be a bigger walking party.
We have reconfigured and decorated a downstairs room to provide a larger dedicated guest area. This character-filled room is where guest will breakfast and includes a relaxing seating area with books/DVD player for guest use in the evening.
What we offer: Our breakfast choice of a full Welsh or a lighter, steeped oats option with all the trimmings and we use locally sourced produce wherever possible.
Given 24 hours notice we can prepare a 2 course meal for £13 p/head. Rock Villa is an 8-acre smallholding with an extensive vegetable patch and polytunnel so we will offer home grown seasonal produce where possible. In 2015 we plan to introduce a flock of rare breed Welsh Black sheep so Rock Villa's own meat will also be on the menu.
We are happy to prepare nutritious packed lunches on request at £5 p/head.
If our guests would prefer to dine out we will drop/collect from our local pub/restaurant or Llanidloes for £0.50 per mile for the roundtrip.
To help those with tired feet we will collect from/drop walkers to a rendezvous point on the Glyndwr Way.
We are very happy to welcome our guests' well-behaved dogs and we have a dedicated downstairs room where they can spend a comfortable night.
We have a room with a wood burning stove downstairs to dry walkers boots/jackets/socks and for a small fee will arrange overnight clothing washing and drying.
