Plas Bwlch

Michael and Pauline Wheeler welcome guests to come and share the wonderful countryside at Plas Bwlch, which translates to "The Mansion of the Valley". Plas Bwlch is a cosy Georgian farmhouse surrounded by 15 acres of farmland, with breathtaking views of the Upper Wye Valley. The Wheelers run a small pedigree flock of Dutch Zwartbles sheep, quite rare in the UK, along with various chickens, so guests can be assured of fresh farm eggs with their hearty breakfasts.

Rooms

The Bed and Breakfast accommodation is rated 4 Stars with the Welsh Tourist Board, and consists of one double room and one twin room on the lower ground floor, both with en-suite bathrooms, televisions and tea making facilities, along with guests' own sitting and dining room. There's ample off road parking on the front drive, as well as locked, secure parking for bikes, trailers and rally cars.

The area

Llangurig is 1000ft above sea level and surrounded by wonderful scenery, where the extremely rare Red Kites can regularly be seen soaring above the farm on the thermals, or, for a closer view, at one of the local feeding stations such as Nant Yr Arian, where visitors will also find mountain biking routes alongside some spectacular walks around the mountains and lakes. The Wye Valley Walk and the National Cycle Route (Lon Las Cymru) both pass through Llangurig. For clay pigeon shooting, the centre at Trefeglwys regularly hosts World Championship events. Llyn Clywedog and Nant Y Moch reservoirs are nearby, and the Elan Valley Lakes are only a short drive away.

Rates

£85 for 2 sharing either the double or twin room. Single occupancy is £50. Discounts are offered for longer stays and out of season breaks.
