In June 2019 Heather is taking part in a Marie Curie Overseas Challenge which involves a 5 day trek of the Canadian Rockies, trekking for a minimum of 6 hours a day in an effort to raise as much money as possible for Marie Curie.
Heather is taking-on this challenge to raise awareness that many life experiences of individuals affected by terminal illness and give recognition to the invaluable service given by Marie Curie. The nurse’s work voluntarily day and night in people’s homes across the UK providing hands on care and supporting the patient both physically and emotionally. They also provide invaluable support to the family of those affected by life limiting illness at the most difficult of times. Every day matters to those living with terminal illness and the service offered by Marie Curie is only possible thanks to the amazing generosity of the public. All monies raised will be used to support the local nursing service.
Heather enjoys keeping fit and has taken part in many running and walking events which include half marathons, the Sarn Sabrina walk as well as completing the Rotary Across Wales 42 mile walk earlier this year. However, Heather advises that the trek will be a very personal challenge for a cause close to her heart. To date Heather has raised well in excess of £8,000 for this fantastic cause.
Heather is proudly supported by the Llanidloes Football Club and Milwyn Jenkins and Jenkins (Solicitors) and Cambrian Mountain Events.
